Carpet can absorb and hold a large amount of water, especially when the padding underneath becomes saturated. Quick extraction and proper drying help determine whether the carpet and subfloor can be saved.
What the Job Involves
The technician checks the carpet, padding, subfloor, and nearby materials for moisture. Water is extracted from the carpet, followed by targeted drying of the affected area.
Signs You Need It
- Soaked or saturated carpet
- Wet carpet padding
- Musty odors
- Water stains
- Buckled or wrinkled carpet
- Recent flooding or plumbing leaks
How the Work Goes
The water source is stopped first. Standing water is extracted using professional equipment, then moisture levels are checked in the carpet, padding, and subfloor. Air movers and dehumidifiers are positioned to remove remaining moisture.
What Affects the Cost
Cost depends on the affected square footage, amount of water, carpet and padding type, subfloor condition, and whether contaminated or permanently damaged materials need removal.
